At the graduate level of study, the Department of Statistics offers a wide range of courses in the diverse areas of advanced Statistics such as Biostatistics, Demography and Population Studies, Econometrics, Experimental Design, Meta-Analysis, Multivariate Analysis, Robustness, Sampling Methods, Theory of Inference etc. Exposure to such wide range of courses not only enhance the statistical knowledge of students but also help them to become independent researchers. Besides Master of Science (MS) in Statistics, the department offers Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) studies as well.

Master of Science

Students with a 4-year BS (Honors) degree from this department can continue their studies to a 1-year Masters degree. A student can enroll either in the General group or in the Thesis group according to their merit.

Master of Philosophy

Doctor of Philosophy

Students will have the opportunity to conduct 4-year PhD studies in their interested areas in this department based on the availability of supervisors. A candidate enrolled in the PhD program will have to undertake full-time study at the department under the guidance of his/her supervisor(s). Candidates without MPhil degree or 4-year BS (honors) and 1 year M.S. degree from University of Dhaka will have to take courses covering 8 credits (200 marks) in the first year.
